This policy explains how Arbiter (the Android app com.arbiter.assistant and the Windows app), published by Arbiter Development ("we", "us"), handles information. In short: Arbiter Development runs no servers that receive your conversations. The app stores your data on your device and sends requests directly to the AI services you choose to connect.
1. Information stored on your device
- Conversations and memories: your chats and the facts you ask Arbiter to remember are stored in the app's private storage on your device.
- API keys: the OpenAI and Google Gemini API keys you enter are encrypted with Android Keystore (Android) or Windows account protection (Windows). They are never included in the app, in backups we control, or sent to us.
- Settings: preferences such as voice options and selected model.
We do not have access to this information.
2. Information sent to third-party services
When you use online features, the app sends data directly from your device to these providers under your accounts:
| Service | When | What is sent |
|---|---|---|
| OpenAI API | When you turn on online AI and choose an OpenAI model | Your message, recent conversation, relevant saved memories and search results. On Windows with App control on, it also includes information read from the apps you let Arbiter use (for example scene, script or asset names). |
| Google Gemini API (Google Search grounding) | When Google Search is turned on | Your search question. Questions about taxes are reduced to general topics before they are sent. |
| Your device's speech recognition service (e.g. Google) | When you tap the A to talk on Android | Your voice, processed by the speech service installed on your phone under its own privacy terms. Arbiter receives only the transcribed text. |
These providers process the data under their own terms and privacy policies: OpenAI Privacy Policy and Google Privacy Policy. You can revoke a key at any time from the provider's dashboard or with Disconnect in Arbiter's AI connections.
3. Microphone
Arbiter asks for microphone permission only when you first tap to talk. It listens only while listening mode is on, and it does not record audio in the background or keep audio files.
4. Windows-only features
- Local AI and screen understanding: if you use a local model through Ollama, including screen observation, your data stays on your PC.
- App control: Arbiter connects to Roblox Studio, Blender and Unreal Engine on your PC. Reading happens automatically, but every action that changes something, runs code or opens a program requires your approval first.
- Phone pairing: if you pair your phone with your own PC, requests go to your PC over your own network or private tunnel.
5. What we do not do
- We do not collect analytics, advertising IDs or location.
- We do not show ads and do not sell or share personal information.
- The Google Play version has no user accounts or cloud sync.
6. Reports you send us
If you use Report on an answer, your email app opens with a message to us containing the reported answer. We receive only what you choose to send, and we use it only to investigate and improve Arbiter. Email us to have a report deleted.
7. Retention and deletion
Your data stays on your device until you delete it. You can delete conversations in the app, remove memories in the Memory vault, remove API keys with Disconnect, or delete everything by clearing the app's storage or uninstalling Arbiter. Data already sent to OpenAI or Google is kept under their policies and can be managed through your accounts with them. See how to delete your data.
8. Security
Connections to AI providers use HTTPS. API keys are encrypted at rest with your operating system's secure storage.
9. Children
Arbiter is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect information from them. Use of OpenAI and Google APIs is subject to those providers' age requirements.
10. Changes
If we change this policy, we will update it on this page and change the effective date above.
